I'm not buying so no surestions please, neither price to performance

but what would be better for gaming

980ti at 1500mhz

or 1070 at 2000mhz

lets assume both run at 8ghz on the memory

AMD (and proud) r7 1700 4ghz-

also (1600)

asus rog crosshairs vi hero x370-

MSI 980ti G6 1506mhz slix2 -

Gonna go with the 1070 at 2000mhz because performance wise the 980ti and 1070 are similar but the extra 500 puts it over.

They are similar performance wise because the 1070 is clocked so much higher. If you clocked the 1070 down to 1500 I guarantee it would be beaten by the 980ti.

That what I was thinking because the 980ti is overclocking more cores

yeah the 1070 and 980ti are pretty similar in terms of benchmarks and performance. The 1070 does have a slight edge due to more VRAM, able to use the pascal drivers, energy efficient, blah blah blah.

SIDE NOTE: a used 980ti goes for, at lease in the USA, $350ish, so pretty much the same as a 1070 really (that is on sale). Personally I would sell your GPU asap and get the 1070 or 1080ti (when it comes out) because as soon as the 1080ti releases used 1070's and 1080's will flood the market enough to dock down the value of a used 980ti

pretty much the same...1070 would be faster in some games by a few FPS and 980ti would be faster in some others by a few FPS.
