Hey there!  So this is the first time I have ever built and overclocked a computer so I was looking for some help. I will be building all of this the first week of December so I figured now would be a good time to do some research.  I'm looking for a modest overclock (4.4 gHz maybe?) since I'm not liquid cooling and don't really need too much more performance than what the 6700k comes with, but want to give it a shot nonetheless.  I'll link my pc parts below and if any of you could give me some insight that would be great! Thanks!

start at default voltage for the i7 6700k, and slowly increase the clock speed. each time you increase the clock speed by 100mhz, run a torture test on Prime95, and monitor your temps. if it says "worker stopped, hardware failure detected" or something similar, increase the voltage. if your temps are above 75c under load, lower voltage.

Increasing the voltage is what results in higher temperatures

Personal build >  New-ish AMD main gaming setup

Is Prime95 a free program?
