1. Budget & Location

Location is Australia and total budget is $2600 AUD, but under that would be nice.

2. Aim

This system is solely for gaming.

3. Monitors

I already have one 4K monitor, but I also plan to buy a 1080p 144hz panel in the near future (Probably in a few months when I can afford to after this).

4. Peripherals

As I said I already own a monitor, but I will need to buy a mouse, headset and keyboard. What I plan to buy is listed down below, but I welcome any alternative/better suggestions for each. I already own a Windows 10 key.

5. Why are you upgrading?

My current setup is very old and can barely play 1080p (Old GTX 260).

6. Other

I’m aware that 750W is way overkill for a 1070, but it's $10 more than the 650W G2 (They don't sell the 550W in AU for some reason) and it has a massive warranty of 10 years. I don't know what I will do with my PC then, I may have the budget to do a crazy overkill SLI upgrade even if it's poor value. Also, although i’m in AU and buying many parts here (Off PCCG preferably), I’m also looking at US stores that ship here to AU, buying MOBO + GPU there, but more if prices are good enough (B&H, Amazon items that ship to AU and Newegg AU). That is also what the custom parts are from, but I have just converted the prices to AUD, they may change slightly when I buy it depending on exchange rate or Black Friday prices.

Great CPU choice, great HDD choice, PSU seems overkill, and motherboard is really expensive! Otherwise, I like it! I'd add an optical drive, they cost like $15 and come in handy!

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

Drivers, disks you find laying around the house, that one time when your friends are over and the DVD player at your TV won't work, so you play it off your PC and cast the video to your TV or move the PC to the TV, and when your girlfriend or boyfriend makes you a special movie but doesn't trust sending it over the internet because of all the celebrity leaks...

If anything I'd buy an external USB one for portability instead of a big internal one.

Shaved down the cost a bit, GPU is far cheaper with 70-80% of the performance, if you're mainly going to game at 1080p, it's not worth really buying the 1070

the fatal1ty board has a lot more gimmicks in terms of gaming that may or may not be useful

and the masterbox is just better for the money IMO compared to the full master case

Micro Center has one for, I want to say $11, I don't remember what I paid for it, but it's really cool. I keep my extra case screws in there, along with a CD I found on my desk, and a couple spare USB drives.

You really ought to invest into a i7 for a build of this calibre instead of a i5 + expensive CPU cooler... especially since you plan on keeping this PC for quite a long time. Anyway, this build should be within your budget.

I should have made it clearer, the PSU I will keep for some time, I will probably upgrade the GPU within 2 years, probably sooner (Perhaps after Volta). Is the i7 worth it at 4K? From the benchmarks I have seen, it didnt make much of a difference there over an i5.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

As I said, I have a 4K monitor and I plan to buy a 1080p 144hz in the future (Needs to be 4K capable).

just about any modern GPU is capable of running a 4k display

as for games at 4k, a 1070 can't really do it, you'd need a titan XP currently for that, so you'd probably end up running games at 1080p on the 4k display, which the 480 is perfect for at high settings

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
