Gaming Rig, First Time Building

So I'm looking to build a computer for the first time, and was looking for advice on parts. My budget is $1.4k and I want to build a pc that I won't have to upgrade for a long time. I don't plan on running games on ultra settings all the time, I kind of prefer medium-high settings and I know that I'm getting a GTX 1060 for sure. I have no parts to bring over from my old computer (including the moniter) because I am letting my brother have it. I have no idea what I'm doing so an explanation paired with what I should change would be much appreciated.

Or a 6gb of the 1060 or fit a 1070 in because I'm building a rig for about $1000 and I'm putting a 6600k and 1070 in so with more money a 1070 would be very doable.

480 is better over time than a 1060 6GB

Didn't notice it was 3GB, my mistake and tbh it's personal preference. One will perform better in some games one will perform better in others.

Woah there's a lot to change here. First off, you don't need a sound card, wired (or even a wireless) NIC, or thermal compound. Instead spend more on a monitor. That PSU is below average for its price, let's change it to something more reasonable. Also if you want your computer to last, don't do a 3GB card, get the full 6GB. Edit: The MSI RX 480 Gaming X is a steal for $210. Get that.
