Hi guys,

So I'm "new" to computer building (by new I mean first time builder but watched alot of linus and other tech vids) and I'm building a new pc

My problem is, the pc won't post no matter what

Already did check for everything (bend pins and cable's), all fans spins and work fine, led's all light up (motherboard ones just for fancyness), but also a RED light on the top right corner light's up and says (dram)

in the manual it says "Indicates that dram in not detected or failed" so and my question's are :

-Is it ok to have just 1 stick of mem or is it required to have dual channel?

-Should i buy new RAM (2x4gb) of other manufactor?

-Should i send the motherboard back?

If someone had the same problem and found a solution please help me out.

Thank you in advance. Have a nice day

Specs:

-MSI z170A gaming m3 motherboard

-Inter i5 6600k CPU

-Crucial ballistix 1x8gb ram

-Corsair cx550M PSU

-GTX 1070 graphic card (didn't buy it yet)

-Cooler Master Hyper 212X Cooler

@CakeDesu Where do you have the RAM located (which slot)? Usually, if you're using a single stick (which is fine, btw), it should go in the 1st or 2nd slot.

I already tested it in all of them alway's black sreen

if you have 2 dimms, put them in the 1st and 3rd stick. if you only have 1 put it in the 1st slot

Well I will RMA it, should i just do it for the RAM or mobo and cpu ?

Just to check, do you have all the mobo cables plugged in, specifically the 4 or 8 pin CPU power cable?

Yup all checked, everything looks fine just the red led on the right top corner that shines with or without ram (when the ram is in it blinks 2 in 2 sec to the cpu led when no ram is in it just the dram led shines)
