Static from on board audio

I just got my HyperX Cloud stinger headset and when i plugged it in my motherboard (Msi Z170 Krait Gaming 3x) and I got terrible static. I tried reinstalling the Realtek Hd audio drivers, then installing the drivers from the Realtek website with no luck.  I haven't used the on board audio before on it. Its not the headphones I tried them on my phone and they work great. Any tips? Was this on the front or rear panel jacks? You should use the rear panel if at all possible.

Its plugged in the rear
