Hey there

Just wondering if anyone can help me with this:

I have a Packard bell iMedia s2870

Specs:

i5 3340

gt620 1GB

8GB ram

1TB HDD

It won't output video, when i turn it on, the fan is slow, then the fan speeds up and does not slow down.

Anything i can do to recover this old beast? I would quite like to have it back in service.

Feel free to ask questions.

If the fan speeds up and doesn't slow down, then it's a tell sign that it failed to POST successfully. Clear the CMOS on the board and see where that gets you.

Remove the GPU, and try booting with one stick of RAM installed (cycle through individually with all your sticks of RAM).

Also tried this, it worked once, but wouldn't leave the bios, tried with the other stick of ram, booted into windows but said corrupted drive, I couldn't use it with just 4GB of memory and no GPU though.

Damn, looks like quite a few possible component failures. Did anything happen to the system do you know like a power surge or something? Or has it just been sitting around in a closet for a while?

Been trying to sort it out for months, it was in full service when it died, was just turned on one morning and decided to give up, worked perfectly the night before.
