I want to buy a new laptop that handles gaming pretty well, but that comes at an affordable price. I've settled on the MSi GP62 6QF, but I was wondering if there was anyone on here who's worked with/on one and can give me an opinion. Notebookcheck.net doesn't have a review for this specific version.

I'd really appreciate knowing whether I need to move on to another laptop.

I've had horrifyingly bad support from MSI in the past, but I have an ASUS laptop with the same specs and it is fairly good at gaming.

I wouldn't expect max or high settings on most games, it's perfectly fine with medium or low (the division has to be low for 60fps+)

Thanks for the advice. Which ASUS is that?

ASUS GL552, I would be cautious about ASUS too due to the bad support reputation they have, but for me there haven't been any problems so far. In comparison MSI had my notebook for multiple months, charging me nothing one time, and then asking for £100 another time for the same fault that was not my issue.

Overall it's a case to case basis.

(also, if you get the GL552 make sure it's the one with the metal lid, the plastic one I have keeps having the hinges pop off.)

It's a bit complicated, because I'm in South Africa and prices seem to differ quite a bit compared to the US and UK. Here the GP62 (with Windows 10, bag, and mouse) is R18 000. At current exchange rates that puts it at $1262 and  £1022.
