I own a 7.7" tablet and I think it is a pretty good compromise between portablility and screen size. So if you are looking for something to carry around a lot I would say the 7" option is better. It is also easy to hold in one hand which is attractive to me.

I could probably be swayed if i wanted one primarily for home use though.

I have an iPad 2 and a Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 is great for the train to college and college work, and the iPad is better for home use when I'm not on the PC.
I've really been thinking about getting the Nexus 7, as I use the Nexus as my main phone, so I would feel right at home :P

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 as well as a Nexus 7 and on a day to day basis, I find myself only using the Nexus. This is basically due to the convenience of the size, and how I can carry it around with me easily. Furthermore, it also fits in one hand, which is a really convenient feature.

This is why I don't use my iPad anymore.

I've got the iPad 3 but I've tried the iPad mini (7.9") and for what I do the fullsize iPad screen is a lot easier to use. The main use for me aside from web browsing and email is using it as a remote for Soundcraft, Avid and Presonus digital consoles - the iPad mini I've found was just too small to be of real practical use whereas the full size iPad was a lot easier to use to mix on.

Just my $.02

if you had a girlfriend or your mom carrying it around get the 10", otherwise you still need to put 7" one on your bag but it's more compact, so both do the same if you're out of home, but if which one will be more comfortable to use, i prefer 10" because 7" sucks

I have a 10" tablet (HP Touchpad with Android lol) and I think I prefer the 7" form factor. I'm really just waiting for the next generation of the Nexus 7 to come out, and then I'll be getting that. In my opinion, you can hold and position the 7" so much more comfortably it's definitely worth the difference in size.

7" is great for its portability, but it's a better choice for reading and gaming. And if you want to check your emails or the internet in your bed, it's a still great device. But if you want to use the tablet primary for browsing the internet and reading emails, typically the "home use", the 10" tablet wins here all the way. I personally prefer the 7" tablet, that's why I own the iPad mini. I use it only when I'm traveling or going to school. When I'm home, I use only my pc.

7" It is big enough to play games and watch things on. 10" is not as portable as a 7" so a 10" tablet should be for home use...
