My GF got me a 1080 FE, lotta running around and arguing and dealing with best buy, so its not going back to swap for aftermarket.

Given it gets hot and throttles at 82, or loud if you up the curve.....

Whats the cheapest way to change from stock cooling?

Cheapest ive found is doing a corsair bracket and like a h55 or h60. (If this is a bad idea, please also say so)

Thanks in advance!

If you already had a Hydro series cooler it could be worth it, if not something like this would be good, and has really good reviews.

Change that, they don't make the adapter/brackets for GTX 10 series cards yet, so using a corsair H cooler is out of the question unless you can make a mount yourself :P

EVGA sells or used to sells it's cooler for reference cards separately. At least it was the case with 980Ti and ACX 2.0 cooler.

Also the FE only has one 8 pin. will that matter?

They are the same card, just different coolers. That's what reference means. I'm in Columbus Ohio. You can message me and we can discuss the details.

Whatever mod you end up doing make sure you cool down your VRM's too. Some thermal glue + tiny metal heatsink (under 2$) should work given you have /add a fan blowing into them to dissipate the heat.

Don't regret not doing it, just do it and be happy.
