GPU running hot

CostcoSamples

I've got an old MSI Hawk GTX 560 ti.  It's got the Twin Frozr II cooler on it.  Looking at review sites, the thermals and noise levels should be good on this card, but my card runs hot and loud.  Noise levels are really bad.

I cleaned the heatsink and replaced the thermal compound but it didn't make a difference.  Any other suggestions?  I can try a side panel fan blowing on the card.  I wonder if maybe there are some heat pads missing on the power or memory modules?

Perhaps take the stock fans off and zip tie an NF-F12 to the heatsink???

what temps are you getting ? how fast is the fan running ?

I'm not at home right now, but I think it was around 70 degrees, fan speed is very high, probably 70% to 100%.

70 degrees is fine, but you should check at how many RPM's your fans are running at.

Well it shouldn't need to spin the fans so fast.  I'll play around with fan curves some more, see if I can let it push temps a bit higher to quiet things down a bit.

the thing is that fan speed in % isn't very accurate. for one card it might be normal , but way too fast for others. Best way is to check RPM

I got DirectU II from Asus, 560Ti too. I have set max speed for GPU fans to 45%. With that in maxes at 76C under stress tests (variation of 68-74C over all tests I've run). Room temp is 22-24 almost year around.

Have you tried adjusting fan speeds and checking where fan speed comes irrelevant for GPU temp?
