Good quality mic

CookieMaster

Title says almost of it all. Looking for a good quality desktop mic

My current mic is a mic in a camera.

Here's some things to consider:

My fans can get very loud so a mic that can help block out will help (in apps such as Skype i just lower the input volume so fans are not picked up)

I'm not looking for a headset mic. Desktop free-stand mic

Thanks.

Oh also Price range is less than $200, preferably in the $150 range or less.

I will be using this mic to talk on Skype, steam, ts, in game, etc Want it to be better quality than my current camera mic.

With most desktop mics, you will want to have it close to you so you do not have to turn up sensitivity/mic volume, reducing the background noise. What also reduces background noise is using PTT instead of Voice-Activated. But regardless, you will likely want to get a boom arm.

The other item is isolation. You may find that tons of desk noise is transmitted into the mic due to minimal isolation. this is another reason to get a boom arm - but you may also end up needing a shockmount.

This is where a GOOD headset mic (like a modmic) is nice for everyday needs, without needing a boom arm to get the mic close to you.

In any case, AT-2020 is great - It's what I've been using for a year or so. But I really do wish I had not spent the money, and instead purchased a ModMic.

I would get this blue microphone and then just get an XLR to usb conversion

I like the spark but others prefer the Yeti. Also the microphone Razer sells is pretty good. I use it and have not had any problems but I think the spark is a better choice for long term.

Thanks, just not a fan of headset mics, I like to talk sometimes even when I'm not at my desk. I usually only do that when skying someone with a less quality pc/mic/camera.

haha thanks, I just thought it was slightly funny that it said blue but was orange, would rather have the less expensive one so orange sounds better, might also fit in better with my desk and lighting. Might take some color samples to my desk to see what fits to be honest, not a big deal but If i can choose the color then why not get one that fits the best.
