Yes, even 600w PSU is enough. :P

yea somewhere around 650w would be more reasonable. especially with seasonic PSUs

650-750 would be enough if you're looking to save a buck. :)

but im planning to overclock both of the cpu and gpu

i saw the msi 780 reaching almost consuming 500w when overclocked (and i dont know how much my cpu will take at 4.5)

Power numbers are fairly typical. Overclocked you can see we're sitting at a little under 500 Watt when under load.(it was 470)

Way overkill unless you plan to sli.

i like having headroom  for my psu

But seriously, 650 watts is more than ample for your build. But if you want to SLI, or just want peace of mind, go for the 850. It's your money.

600 Watts is enough for the build but the 850 is enough for future sli.

600W would be more than enough for a single 780, and something like a Corsair AX760(i) would be fine for 780's in SLI. Most people seem to over-estimate what's needed.

I personally do that for future proofing but this is true, many of us indeed do this. I heard a kid that he needed a 1000W for his 6450....

Yeah, it honestly depends on how you buy your PSU's. I brought my corsair AX850 because I saw it as a long term investment, a PSU I'll use for the next 4 years or so unless it's connectors somehow get outdated.

Which I HIGHLY doubt! We've been using 4-Pin MOLEX for how long now?

That MSI GTX 780 is not "almost consuming 500w when overclocked". The ENTIRE system with an overclocked SB-E 3960X overclocked to 4.7GHz is taking up to 470wAC at the wall. Taking into consideration of the fact that you are using a lower power consumption CPU and that the actual power draw that the testing setup is lower due to efficiency (PSUs are rated at DC output and not AC input), your system will be quite a bit lower than 470wDC.

A quality 550w such as a Seasonic G 550RM or Rosewill Capstone - M 550w would be plenty for your setup. The Seasonic M12II Bronze 850w would be more than enough for 780 in SLI.

dude it clearly states that THE WHOLE SYSTEM will use 470W. and that system is an i7 3960X six core OC`ed to 4.7 GHZ. thats insane.with your system with the i5 at 4.5 ghz haswell you can cut from there more than 100W.
