Hello, I have an i5 3450 CPU with an LGA 1155 socket motherboard.

I wanted to upgrade to an i7 because OBS records games with worse quality compared to a 240p camera (I play ultra settings in games like CS, Fallout 4, Spec Ops: the Line.)

In addition, I would like to stream a little bit, but with how the video is recorded to the hard drive, no one would watch streams.

TLDR:

(Too long didn't read)

Is there a significant difference in bump in performance from an i5 3450 between the:

i7-2600

And

i7-3770

Or would it warrent spending the money on a new MoBo to get an i7 6700?

I only have DDR3 Ram, so warranting the chance 6700s support DDR3 (1333 & 1600) in DDR3L slots.

its a 10% performance boost really like with all intel next gen cpu. It is worth going from a 3770 to a 6700

Ummm, maybe in gaming. The OP specifically stated that he records with OBS which will be a lot more than just 10%.

If I were you, I would actually do neither and wait a few months for the i7-7700k to come out and buy that. To answer your question though, you will see a significant performance gain for recording and streaming with an i7.

Considering the expected price of $350~ US, yeah, waiting for that seems pretty good considering

@xephoneration and @DeadEyePsycho claim a 10%+ increase.

((((100 * 10(3k-4k)) * 10(4k-6k)) * 10(6k-7k)) = 100,000 times increase minimum)

@SkilledRebuilds I have considered that but I'm unsure of what would be wrong with OBS.

Encoding: x264 use cbr enable crb padding,

max bitrate 1000,

codec aac,

bitrate 128,

format 48kHz,

channel stereo

Broadcast settings: File output V:\NewVideo.mp4, (Named second HDD V for videos)

Replay buffer 1,

estimated replay buffer 2/4095,

replay buffer file path C:Users\"NAME"\Videos\Replay-$T.flv

Video: Video adapter AMD Radeon R9 390

Base Resolution: Custom: 1920 x 1080 Apect Ratio: 16:9

Resolution Donscale: None (1920x1080)

Filter: Bilinear(Fastest) (This option is grayed out)

FPS: 30

Audio: Desktop Audio device default

Microphone: Disabled

Advanced:

Use multi-threaded optimizations

Process priority class: Normal

Scene bufering time 700

Allow other modifier hotkeys (I only have a record and stop record hotkey set)

x264 cpu preset: very fast

Ecoding profile High

Keyframe interval 0

Use CFR

I think that's everything and a bit more that really matters. I listed the check boxes that are checked with just what it was called.
