Also should I just wait until my family has a little more money to spend for a longer lasting/higher quality TV?

yeah tis is best. to be more specific on how it died or what caused it. when I went to turn it on one day I heard snap, crackle, and pop, with the smell of burning electronics and a little of smoke coming from the back. Mind you we have a APC and we tested it after that happened and the APC is completely fine. When we opened the back of it, the board was terrible. we had a capacitor that blew up, and giving a closer inspection on why it had to do how they soldered the damn thing. The manufacture believes in a lot of solder like an excessive amount that bridges multiple connection....
