Good evening lovely LTT-community!

I've been using a steelseries 6gv2 with black switches for I believe almost 3 years now, and love the linear feeling of the black switches, but I'd like to try out lighter keys, so I had the reds in mind at first.

A friend recently bought the corsair k95 rgb and I was impressed by it so at first I wanted to go for it (with red switches) aswell cause I felt like I could use macro keys for different stuff.

But then I found out about the k70 rgb rapidfire with mx speeds, which I am very curious about.

My question is, since corsair doesn't offer a k95 rapidfire for some reason (I guess it wouldn't have that much demand):

could I use the numblock on the k70 rapidfire to assign any kind of macro to those keys, using the corsair utility engine? from simple text macros to starting applications or auto hotkey script for example.

I read you could also use different modes and a button to switch between those modes to have more actions to assign.

Would be really nice if this works, I think it should since corsair states " Every key on the keyboard except the volume scroll wheel is assignable with an action of your choosing. " ,

but it would be nice to hear from someone who owns this or a similar corsair keyboard if this works.

Thanks and have a nice day/evening/night!

  • 1 month later...

I own a K70 Vengence with MX Reds, a Razer Blackwidow Chroma and Also a K70 Rapidfire -

The Rapidfire keys have a shorter travel and feel more responsive - in a good way - the normal MX Reds feel kindy mushy in comparison but still very satisfying to type on .

I've been using the normal MX Reds for about 2 years and the Rapidfire took a bit of getting used to - coming from the normal reds I was using too much force on the keys initially on the Rapidfire and my fingers were getting a bit sore - now 2 weeks later I'm getting used to the Rapifire and  using a lot less force on the keys and I find it perfect to type and game on -

I've heard a few people saying that the Rapidfire isn't great to type on - I have to disagree on this - I actually find the Rapidfire amazing to type on once u get used to it - The key switches are very sturdy feeling with very little key wobble compared to all other switches I've used .

the build quality of this keyboard is second to none -

Unfortunately I've had a few keys fail on the Razer Blackwidow - they've stopped clicking - they sound Like MX Browns - and this is only 2 years on and it hasn't been in constant use -

I wouldn't recommend the Razer Blackwidow to anyone unless the company guarantees their key switches for at least 5 years - from the outset  the Razer switches were very wobbly - everything else worked so I thought this was normal - it was my first mechanical keyboard so I had zero experience in key wobble

Overall the Rapidfdfire is by far the best keyboard I have used to date -

If you do decide to get it - remember to be gentle on the keys - very little force is necessary to activate the switches and once u get used to it it'll be a please to use

All the keys on the Rapidfire can be assigned a Macro function so u can basically make them do whatever u want

the Rapidfire with the cue software can also record mouse movements - , macros etc.... - the potential is almost unlimited in what u can do with the cue software - and Version 2 is way easier to use than the original cue software when the RGB KK70's were released
