I'm a fairly new on PC. I know the basic things you need to know, but I'm still a noob. I recently came across this problem where when I alt tab or close a game, my computer blackscreens, Ctrl+Alt+Del not working, pressing escape, or waiting for it to fix itself. I can not continue once this black screen shows up, must reboot. If I have Skype in the background it still plays and I can still talk with people, I just can't do anything. I'm running the latest drivers and windows update. I have unplugged the power supply and let it drain for about 30 minutes, still nothing. This problem is starting to get annoying. Someone plz help :(

Specs:

CPU: AMD FX- 8320 Eight core

GPU: AMD Radeon R7 200 series

 Windows 10 Home

( I sadly don't know the rest. I have 8 gbs of ram tho)

Edit: It seems that only Valve games are doing this. For instance CSGO and Gmod are both doing the same things, while Borderlands and Terraria do not blackscreen when exiting. Is something wrong with the Source files on my computer? Should I go to the Steam forums about this?

I have the exact same issue. My only solution so far is to un plug and re plug in my video output cable. (HDMI)

O, so you can just unplug and replug the hdmi cable? Will be a big help. Issue will be slightly less annoying. But I want to know a permanent fix.

You got latest drivers for the GPU from the AMD site? I asume you close games normally by exiting btw :) Are your resolution settings in windows correct?

Yes, I have the latest drivers from radeon crimson. I exit normally (in game) and by alt tabing, does the same thing for both. And yes, Everything I'm running is at 1080p (same for my windows settings). Thanks for the help in advance :)

Edit: Just found out its all source games, see orignal post above for edit.

Great, that already narrows it down.

Yes, asking on Steam could help. Might have to check settings on certain tabs that influence info on screen or settings that enable broadcasting. Do you you have fps counter on, disable it for example. On the tab display check if big picture mode is enabled and disable it. Think you have to look at these kind of options for your source then.

Run borderless windowed mode by using -noborder in the advanced launch options on Steam.

The Source engine gets real bitchy about some things and fullscreen is one of them.
