Can someone help me 3D model a mousepad thing for my macbook pro? Im not great at 3D modeling so im on here. Sorry for my shit MS paint idea.

So basically it part of it would sit in the CD/DVD slot, and then on top and on bottom of the macbook. (The black would be the 3D printed Thing)

2012 Macbook Pro.jpg

And then this is a garbage x-ray style of what it would look like

Macbook 2.png

It would be for a 2012 MacBook Pro 13", basically giving it a 17" footprint. Please let me know if you can do anything. It would be very useful

Hm... are you sure this would work well? Unless you have a liquid printer, the top surface would turn out with little grooves.

Oh you're going to put a mousepad on top. Thought you would use it just for the mousepad. I could design something if you send me all the dimensions.

Ok.

Main Body:

1.5Cm thinck

22.5 wide

32.5Cm long

CD:

.4CM up-down

12.3 Cm across

8.5Cm from the front of the laptop

1.5Cm from the back

Center of the CD (Up-down) is 1Cm from the bottom

.65Cm from top to center of CD

Top of CD player is .5CM from top

Bottom is .7Cm from bottom of laptop

Extra things:

Top would extend onto the laptop 16.5 CM (From the left to where I would like it)

There would be 2 plastic pieces that extend all the way across the bottom (Lift up the laptop and give it some support)

Not sure if this helps, but

Oh perfect. It's the one I used to work with at school as well. The one with the little screen in the bottom left, right?

It only prints 11 in, so about 27 cm. That's a problem.

Yeah. Thats why I was wondering if it could be in 2 parts. Or if you could do 2 parts but with divits and I can superglue it together or something

If you shrink the bottom part to 16.5 cm as well, it should be able to print in one run.

This is for use on your lap right? If so, I can just make the bottom part shorter but thicker so it has the same strength.

Tell you what. Since it is my schools 3D printer, and I have unlimited filament (#Gov't Funding) do we want to try different things? Another thing I was thinking was if you didn't do the main plastic piece so I can make sure it fits and I don't waste lots of filament and time. (The piece that extends the laptop) (Then add the plastic once I verify it fits)

How about this. We do two runs.

1. Just the CD part. I remove the mouse part and shorten the top and bottom to sort of have a three-prong block thing. You make sure it fits.

2. Then I add the mouse part and make the top and bottom parts longer.

Do you have Makerbot Desktop? You can convert from STL to .makerbot in that. I don't want to download it for a one time use, so yknow.
