Both Skyrim original and skyrim SE are capped at 55 fps with and without mods.

I have reinstalled both many times and updated my drivers.

Gpu msi gtx 980ti

CPU i7 4790k

RAM 16gb g skill ripjaws

windows 7

1080p res

thoughts?

forcing the game to run above 60 fps causes severe glitching on computers for skyrim and fallout (or so i've heard). Could be they've implimented some sort of patch to cap the game at 55 to prevent this form happening anymore.

But lets be real here, you're not going to see the difference between 55 and 60 fps.

I tried that in Skyrim prefs AND nvidia control

Youll want skyrim to not play over 60 because of the physics engine. I think you can type maxfps 60 in the skyrim console or some command like that to cap it at 60.

Everyone should own a vive.

Its not a smooth 55 fps. a stutter or 2 occurs every 2 min. i know this sounds pretty whiny but trust me i wouldnt be complaining if i hadn't played skyrim in better conditions before.

if you're experiencing stutters and whatnot, it is probably unrelated to a locked fps issue. could be system usage, background programs, SLI/CF or any other of a bajillion issues that cause it. we would need more information to help you diagnose that topic. Though, there is nothing obvious about your hardware that would seem to cause it.
