Bottleneck? RX-470&Amd fx

Go to solution Solved by Xx_MadJack_xX,

it may BottleNeck sometimes i would Recomend getting a 6300 or a 8350 or you could Wait to so what the AMD Zen Has to Offer

So my XFX RX 470 is running so well. I recently upgraded my motherboard and it is very good for overclocking. I ended up getting my Amd fx-4300 up to 4.8ghz!! and it is safe, I did a 1 week benchmark and system test to insure it isn't unstable, now it runs at around 70° at full load and is pretty fast. I was wondering if it is still holding my RX470 back? I checked GTA V and it said the CPU was at 82% usage when the gpu was under full load. I assumed this is a good thing usually. I've heard the Fx-4300 is a big bottleneck cpu though.

In cpu intensive titles like GTA V, yes. But, if you're getting 60 fps and above, I don't think you should worry much.

I was gonna get a Fx-(9000) and water cool it. tbh i really like the fx series and on Gta v it was actually at 4k with all settings all the way up. tbh it was at 9fps though. my cpu wasn't even at full usage.

True, im not really worried about it but I don't have issues on any games. I was just curious since I'm told its a bottle neck all the time. and i hear it's a bottlet neck on the Gtx 970 and even a gtx 960.

My mobo supports up to 200w cpu's and has overclocking software made for it (not the bios)

What's your mobo ? Sometimes ratings can be a bit missleading especially for AMD. On another note bios overclocking wields better results then software OC. And last if you want to reply to someone quote him so that he gets notified of it. I'm actually quite forgetful of that one myself >.< ...

It is a MSI G 970
