SpeedFan problems

Go to solution Solved by vanished,

I just decided to try installing the older version (designed for Win 7/8.1) of the ASUS software and it seems to be working ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's not great but it's better than nothing!

I've downloaded this program several times in the past only to give up on it.  After realizing the problem may have been me and not the software, I tried following this guide:

However, it's still not working for me.  One of the very first steps is to set fan speeds to 0 so you can figure out which one is which.  Well, attempting to change them to anything does nothing.

Here are screenshots of several of the tabs, since those are sure to be asked for:

I hope I didn't do something stupid or miss something obvious since that would be really embarrassing, but at this point I just want it to work, so if you spot something like that, please don't hesitate to point it out! :D

Did you try turning off automatic control.

I tried it in both positions

The fans that came with my case.  Funny thing is, I know controlling them can work - back when I was on Windows 7, I used the terrible ASUS software and it actually worked.  I could speed them up, slow them down, stop them, you name it...

Does the program perform the same when in "admin"? As far as I know only PWM fans can be controlled through software.

My ROG board not only automagically determined PWM or voltage control, it set the perfect speeds for temps.

Umm... Build my sub 10 component fan controller?

xD well at this point I am tempted to buy a controller but that just seems stupid when I know they used to work >:(

Any chance your board has a BIOS update? Or perhaps try using a Windows boot media to find if it's an OS issue.

Well I know it's indirectly an "OS issue" since I can't use the ASUS software on Windows 10 xD /s

I'll look for updates and other stuff, see if that helps I guess....

Nah looks like they haven't updated it since 2014 xD
