Hey whats up guys. I recently got a hold of a reference 980 Ti and I've been running games on 1080p.

I was playing CoD4 Remastered yesterday on the Extra preset and I started dropping frames a lot. I put them down to medium and it was playable again. This also happened with Battlefield 1, I can't run ultra settings either.

Here are my complete specs:

Reference 980 Ti 6GB

Intel i5-6500 @ 3.20GHz

8GB DDR4 RAM @ 2133MHz

Onboard SSD 256GB Patriot Boot Drive (Windows 10 64 Bit)

Mechanical 3TB to install games/applications on

All of this on a Gigabyte Z170-MX Gaming 5

Any ideas? Also the drivers to the card are up to date. :) Is it that the 980 Ti is not capable anymore and need to upgrade or?

EDIT: Everything I play is at 1920x1080! :D

Thanks!

Reynaldo

The 980ti should have no problems with COD:MWR. The last few cod games coming out performed like absolute shit on flagship hardware for the first month+ after launch. Give it some time for Nvidia to go and fix the shit infinity ward broke.

When in doubt, re-format.

its definatly not that the 980 ti is not capable. I think that its either the CPU or not enough Ram.

You think so? I didn't think RAM would play such a big role just yet. I've seen gameplay with RAM changes from 4GB up to 16GB and hardly any frames were added onto the benchmark. 0.o

Ah. True. What do you think about Battlefield 1 though?

I also boot all of my games off of my mechanical drive. You think that has anything to do with it?

Haven't played bf1 since the beta, but even the beta performed quite well on my SLI 670's.

Since BF Hardline and battlefront, EA has really stepped up their game as far as games being actually ready at launch. I also haven't heard of any specific issues for BF1 compared to the shitshow that was BF4's launch.

When in doubt, re-format.

If RAM was a problem, you'd hear your hard drive thrashing as it's paging stuff in and out.

I would use GPU-Z in the sensors tab and see if there's something unusual going on.

No, where the game launches from doesn't affect gaming performance.

I can understand bf1 being a CPU hog. Cod however I can barely get the CPU to 50%. Hard to get the gpu to try either. I would say ram for cod and CPU for bf1. Unless there's another underlying issue. Do you run synthetic benchmarks at all?

What are unplayable frames to you?

Do you monitor usages for CPU gpu, voltage and things like that?

with my old 3770k and Titan black in my spare rig, I get 80-100 frames on ultra preset. And it stays capped at 91 with infinite warfare. Haven't tried rm on that PC yet.
