Storage capacity reduced.

Dear LTT Members

 

I've got a WD Black 1TB disk as main disk next to my SSD. Windows says this disk has 68.0 GB free Of 617 GB. Is this an error or a failing disk? Is this something to worry about?

Well i guess you only have a single hdd in your pc. If you add up c: d: and e: you have your 1tb capacity.

This is called partitioning

 

 

EDIT: are c: and e: on the ssd?

then take a look at disc partitioning of windows and see whether D: fills up everything or if theres any unallocated space

Adding up them numbers got me to 853-ish gb. Way off from 1 tb...

 

He also said he had an SSD somewhere. So one of them C/D/E drives, is the SSD, so even less then 1 tb...

 

I think he has some unpartitioned space on this 1 tb drive.

Maybe you installed a system befor on that HDD and you forgot to format and reasign the full drive, while the windows instalation ?

Their was indeed some unallocated partition, stupid I didn't think about that.
