MSI r9 280x Random Underclocking

Hi all,

 

So I recently did a fresh install of Window 7 (64bit). Ever since I reinstalled I keep getting odd issues with my GPU. When I'm running any game at seemingly random moments it decides to drop the clock speed from 1020Mhz to 500 or 301. This is when the load is not massively low (so not power saving?)  and the temps are about 60 degrees C (so not thermal throttling?).

Yes I have all up to date drivers before you ask.

 

 

Anyone have any ideas why?

What does it do In games ?

Occasionally just underclock to 500 or 301mhz.
