@Bluejay0 the BIOS password is only needed to go into your BIOS, so it won't work for what you want.

Looking at this simply, no, you cannot with stock Windows 7. There may be an app that allows you too, but not stock. If you use Ubuntu you can set up drive encryption which would require a password just after POST to decrypt the drive, then another one to log in.

You can use drive encryption to do this, if you have Win 7 Ultimate or Win 8 Pro you can use the built in Bitlocker or for any other version you can use Truecrypt, you will enter one password to unlock the encryption on boot and then your regular windows password for logon (if you set it to) and for sleep/wake.

I would prefer the encryption method rather than the BIOS option.

So If I were to install the Truecrypt software, every time I were to turn on my PC, I need to do one separate password for it before or after bios boot screens?

It is after, but before any Windows 'boot', it goes: Press power button > BIOS screen > Truecrypt boot and password > normal Windows operation after that.

Make sure you have backups of your files before playing around with any encryption though, and under no circumstances forget your encryption password unless you are happy to loose whatever you have on said encrypted drive.
