Good day mates! I'm trying to build a mid range gaming PC. I only have a budget of $1.2k AUD. I'm in need of monitor (pref BenQ) and keyboard as well. I tried building one yesterday but it reached to $1.4k without the peripherals. I only play LoL, DotA and Overwatch for now but will look into Steam if the games are much cheaper than Xbox One. Any help would be awesome.

This is the build that I tried last night:

Intel Core i5 6600K (No heatsink and thermal paste)

Asus Dual GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, 4GB

Gigabyte GA-Z170N Motherboard

Kingston 16GB (2x8GB) PC4-21300 (2666MHz) DDR4

Samsung 250GB SSD, 850 EVO Series, mSATA

Samsung 500GB SSD, 750 EVO Series, SATA III

EVGA 650W SuperNOVA G1 Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS GOLD

No heatsink for the i5? It doesnt come with a stock cooler, you will need to buy one. Dont buy the G1, bad value, get G2 or GS instead.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

I disagree on the PSU. I'd actually drop down to a CX450M if I were you, and spend that on a 250GB MX300, a 1TB WD Blue and a better GPU

I also second the use of a 6500 and cheaper MoBo, the GPU's going to do you alot more good.

Also, you can't run a 6600k without a cooler....

But a 6500 has one

Also CXM is better than a g1, what I meant was to get a better cooler

I'd personally get a CXM but I mean... I dunno.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Way sheet ohhhh they're the same PSU the names are so damn confuzzling WHY CAN'T YOU JUST NAME PSUs EASIER PPL?

Thou hast won m8

Well, to begin with the CXM doesn't seem to be available in Oz so actually the G1 wins.

The weird thing about the G1 is, even though it's so meh it still has a 10-year warranty, so if you're having issues with it or it dies, you can just get it replaced with a better one thanks to EVGA's awesome customer support xD

So I dunno. I'm at a bit of a loss regarding the G1.

10 years? Damn. And this is from the famous EVGA, so even if your VRMs are overheating you're not pissed because their warranty is that good

Interesting....

See what I mean? The NEX are weird.

From reviews I can gather that the main reason it's T4 is because it sucks at croosloads (the 5V rail hit 4.69V on the 12V only crossload, that's out of spec btw), but it's probably built to last a while and that's why EVGA can do 10 years on it.

Actually, now that I know about how bad it crossloads, I wouldn't choose it over an Integra M (Tier 3) even though it's only got 3 years warranty :/
