I've already made a thread on this, but it's dead and I haven't any answers yet. So I'll try again. (Copy pasted because I was too lazy to re-type)

I have an Asus VG248QE, which is a 144hz monitor. I record at 60fps. However, the video that gets produced is choppy. I've tried playing with keyframe intervals with no success. I've tried recording to an ssd to rule out hdd speed with no success. Reinstalls, refresh rate changes between 85 - 100 - 120hz, disabling aero, using Obs Studio, lowering and raising priority, changing video adapters, enabling and disabling cfr, disabling multi threaded optimizations, disabling encoding while previewing, none of it works. This problem isn't linked to just Obs, if this helps. Mirillis Action also experiences this stuttering video.
I asked my friend to record gameplay of the same level I did on his 60hz monitor with the same Obs version and lesser pc, and his produce was much smoother.

Friend's Pc:

i3 6100

Msi Gtx 960 Zero Frozr

Samsung S24D300

My Pc:

i7 6700k

Evga Gtx 1070 Ftw

Asus VG248QE

Nothing.

Does it occur with Geforce Experience/Shadowplay? Is the video supposed to showcase the issue?

Maybe its because I'm used to 60 hz and not 144hz, but I don't notice any difference between the left and right videos as far as fluidity goes.

my only suggestion would be to run your games at 60fps or 120fps (or some other multiple of 60) if you plan to record them at 60hz, so that you have even frames being recorded (1 or 2 displayed per frame recorded). if your monitor is operating at 144hz, and is being screen capped at 60 hz, then you are going to get 2.4 frames for every frame recorded. which means you are going to record either every 2nd frame or every 3rd frame, resulting in a stuttery experience, does that make sense?

Keep in mind I have absolutely no idea about screen recording or any of those aforementioned programs or how they work.... but this is just a theory as to why you may be encountering stuttering since your computer is better and he only difference is refresh rate.

Yes, it does. Also, the video shows the file when recorded on 60hz, vs when recorded on 144hz.

But I've seen people, and in fact are friends with peopl, with 144hz monitors and a similar setup to mine, only they are able to replicate the fluidity of the 60hz recording on 144hz monitors. My friend can confirm the 144hz version is stuttery compared to the other version.

Nothing.

I can't see a difference.

I'm not saying it isn't there, I'm saying I don't see it. everyone has different tolerances for this sort of thing, and people who are used to higher refresh rates tend to notice these sorts of things more often.

For example when I'm playing ROTTR i get 60hz almost all of the time in almost all situations, however occasionally I'll fall from there, down to around 30 fps, and suddenly I notice everything being quite choppy and whatnot, yet 30 fps is still enough for apparent fluid motion (although less so than 60fps or 100+fps).

So much in the same way that I notice 30 down from 60, you may be noticing the minute differences my eyes aren't trained to pick up on when you go down from 144 to 60.

The bad news is I can't see what you're talking about on either video... the good news is that if I can't see it, odds are that most other people can't see it, which means you can post it wherever you want and most people should find it quite agreeable =)

I see zero stutter in both videos. I even activated my sharingan.

Maybe we need to watch this on 144hz monitor?

Guess I'll have to do that. Thanks anyway.

I am watching it on a 144Hz monitor. The same monitor OP is using.
