Hai all,

I am setting up a new pc probably a Hackintosh. The specs i given below So howmuch Watts power supply do i need?

I know a pc shouldn't run on a below minimum required power supply. Likewise is it ok to use a PSU which is more than enough? (eg: if i only need a 550w psu is it ok if i use a 800w or a 1000w psu?)

CPU                              Intel i7 6700k

Motherboard                 Gigabyte GA Z170 D3H

GPU                              gtx 750ti or gtx 970

RAM                              Kingston Hyper X Fury 8 gb 2133Mhz ddr4

Water cooler                 Corsair Hydro series H 110i

HDD                              WD 2TB Caveliar Blue 7200 Rpm   x2

SSD                               Samsung 850Evo 250 gb

Cabinet                          Corsair Carbide series spec 03

howmuch Watts power supply do i need?

550 w is plenty. (No GPU, for better hackentosh support?) The lowest I'd go is 400w

There is a video explaining it. In short words, yes. The higher the PSU Wattage means how much it can go up to. It is perfectly normal to have a 1000watt PSU on a i3.

I can recommend it, and it is Linus' fans' most purchased PSU on amazon, The EVGA 650W G1. Should be plenty. It is FULLY modular and has plenty of cables.

a good 500-550w psu is enough. the supernova G2 650w is pretty cheap at around $60 after rebates IIRC so i'd recommend that.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

please, no. the G1 performs quite horribly compared to other power supplies of the same/lower price and quality. any other of EVGA supernova lineup would be better.

I mean, I am not going to argue with you. You sound like you know what you are talking about. I am just saying the G1 is good for me. I trust your opinion more than mine. :D

The reason we avoid blanket saying "supernova" is mainly to avoid people buying the G1/B1 series due to how bad they are for the money. They're built well but perform weak for their price, especially when other Supernova units (B2, GS, G2, GQ) cost about the same.

The newest generation of Nvidia cards is still rough around the edges in OSX. Get a 970 but preferably used so you aren't spending a ton of money on an old platform.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

You keep bring up performing.. Are you referring to its effiencency? Or its price to watt ratio? Or just its consistency to kill PCs?

The ripple on the 12V rail is very poor.
