i7-3930k oc

im overclocking my i7-3930k  on my asus  P9X79 PRO motherboard cooled by a coolermaster neptopn 140xl cpu cooler

i have a few questions

i have it currently at 4.5Ghz@ 1.376-1.384/.39v according to cpu-z and NZXT CAM monitoring, and aida64, but in task manager and hardware monitor it displays 3.5ghz/4.0ghz ( who should i rely on to give me the right speed?)

in in adia64(stresstest) and nzxt cam(temp monitoring) the highest temps being recording in my very limited testing thus far is 71C

 

if i do encounter thermal issues, am i correct in thinking the cpu will downclock its self and then failing that shutdown?(on this specific CPU) on the package

 

is it wise to run at these speeds and or how would i achieve 4.5(FLAT) as the core multiplier is 35 on all cores?

Task manager is broken. I'd trust your BIOS.

Since Aida and CAM are showing the same numbers as CPU-z (which is always right), I trust that. 

And your CPU will thermal throttle at 100c... But I don't recommend letting it get that high, I'd cut it off at 80c max.

i have it now and a 36 multiplier for an effective 4.5GHZ

Should be fine as long as you watch the temps.

73c seems the highest on aid64 seems to go back to around 69-71c

 

only issue is that it takes 3 attempts to boot (first boot the Debug led shows a BF) then procceds to restart (then restarts partway through) then boots, is this an issue i should be concerned about?
