Shit , i ordered my thermal pads stat . I'm looking after my 1070 like it's a baby.

 

I wonder why did his VRM catch on fire ? the 8 pins were unplugged which means there wasn't Furmark max load running through them wtf ?

That guy just started the PC, not running stress test of any sort. Not even has the PCIe cable plugged in.
Don't think it's related to the VRM overheating thing.

 

Just a card with faulty components. Can happen to any brand.

The guy in the video compromised the GPU for the purpose of making it fail in such a way.

 

In the original video he says "yep, knew it" and was not at all surprised when it caught fire. He knew that not connecting power would cause it to burn up (most likely because he had already done it once) or he compromised the board in such a way that it would fail. It's also possible that it is a very good video edit.
