I want to install it on my computer and have my friend do it too so I can puppet her computer to help her.

If you want to be the controller, go ahead and choose Basic Installation. Then have your friend do the same (or have her choose "Installation to access this computer remotely (unattended)" if you want to help her whilst she's not physically at the computer.

 

Then once both programs are installed, she should be able to see a Teamviewer ID and a password (This is either generated randomly, or she can pick one that you both remember easily).

 

Simply enter the ID and the password into your Teamviewer client and click connect.
