Posted October 31, 2016 I currently have this http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Megah3rtz/saved/ZGBmGX . tldr; fx6300 and GTX 660. My current motherboard does not support 125w processors, only 95w. getting an fx8320/fx8350 would need a new motherboard, if I get a new motherboard I might as well just get a skylake combo. So I have narrowed it down to this. my budget is 600$, but I will be doing this on black friday so going a bit over is alright. I plan to play 1080p high-ultra 40-60+fps on things like BF1, doom, tomb raider, rainbow six siege, overwatch. My prices are in CAD (Canadian dollar.) I was looking at either i3-6100/i5-6400 + rx470 ($530-600$ on newegg) or keep fx6300 and go for a rx480/gtx1060 for 330-350$ I know there is a bottleneck. I plan to play on dx12 for the games that support it, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Posted October 31, 2016 i5 6400 + msi gaming rx480 comes to $434, that still leaves you $160 memory and motherboard edit - I was looking at USD prices, nevermind. remember that upgrading to the i3 6100 or i5 6400 you'll have to get ddr4 or ddr3l ram, so factor that into your budget. Posted October 31, 2016 If you're willing to buy used, look at a sandy bridge (or newer, if you find it cheap) i5 with mobo and ram, then get a RX480/GTX1060 new. I live in a slightly rural area and have had bad experiences with used transactions that aren't in person.
