Ok so Im heading off for 10th grade next year and Im going to work my ass off during summer break. Im estimating a gain of about 1200$ in the 2 months, plus another 200-300 saved up. So my question is, should I get a laptop for about 1300$ (USD) with solid specs and throw in an SSD, (Or anything else) or go for a desktop PC with even more rock solid specs (About 1300$ aswell) and get a tablet (All of this will be ofcourse when LGA 1150 comes and along w/ tegra 4). I will be doing some MAYA 2010/2012, and some gaming on the side, so which should I get?

I would personally go for the desktop PC + tablet route. Unless you will always need a computer with you during school and portability is a factor. But I doubt that to be the case. I wouldn't wan't to be hauling around a hefty laptop around school.

Also, for the price you will always get so much more when buying a desktop compared to an equivalently priced laptop!

CPU: Intel i5 2500k @3.6 Ghz cooled by Antec Kuhler 620 | Case: Azza Solano 1000 | Motherbord: MSI P67-G45 | RAM: Mushkin Enhanced 1333MHz
Video Card: Powercolor 7950 Boost State |
Power Supply: Coolermaster 550w | SSD: OCZ Agility 3 120GB | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB |

Mouse: Corsair M60 | Keyboard: Coolermaster Quick Fire TK  | Headset : Logitech G35 |

Yeah my mind was the same, but the laptop aspect makes it so I can transport data around w/o an external HDD, laos the PC's in my school suck and I wouldn't have to use them

What I'd say is get the desktop PC (GPU NvidiA)get a Tablet with Tegra 4 + Keyboard dock (Asus Transformer Series) wait for Nvidia Grid (then wait for Nvidia to port it to a outside non-Home Wifi). So if your an AMD Radeon fan this won't be in your favor. Conclusion Desktop + Tablet

Project Restomod (In progress)
