printf() error? (C)

So I have this line

printf("\nAverage: \n%-3.2f", out_mean);

And basically I am displaying an average of ten values.

 

I tried to display 5.50 but it display 5.506.

 

Why does this happen?

what does this "-" do? never saw that while printf

printf("\nAverage: \n%.2f", out_mean);

That's the way I'd output a float number like you want it.

The "-" left aligns it within the field
