Hey evrijuan!

Today, I thought I would share a setup that I thought of building.

The PC would be for streaming/gaming, so it was not meant to be SUPER expensive, which I wouldn't have enough for.

This was my idea, though:

PC and monitor:

Any pro tip ideas for change? Your suggestions are very welcome!

Best regards, Mikkel

If its for gaming you should probably add a hdd in there too. that 275gb ssd will fill up quite fast with games.

Yeah I already have a compatible HDD right now, so I don't have to buy one. The same with the keyboard and mouse, so that's why it's not there on the list. It's a nice monitor, right?

I dont know much about monitors but it seems like a good one, 144hz too which will be good.

Yeah and when I'll play competitive games the 1ms response time will be great. It doesn't have that much input lag as well. The price says it really. Good things are expensive, sigh!

230$ for a monitor is pretty cheap. When you begin getting into the 1440p and gsync side of things, monitors can quickly get to the 500-1000$ price range, and quickly shoot past that with 4K. As far as your system goes, it looks pretty solid. yiubmay want to consider a skylake build though, But ultimately it's up to you.

added a hdd and changed ram - also got a better psu

I didn't need to buy a harddrive as I already have one :) That's why it's not on the list.

Why's the RAM that you picked better? All I see is that the one you picked only has 1600mhz when the one I picked has 2133? Am I missing something?

Yeah I agree with the monitors, but for the 1080p that I need it's good. Don't need that 4k right now, haha! What's a skylake build? Remind you I'm new to this computer building stuff :)

If you want to consider going skylake, here is my suggestion.

for roughly the same cost 100$ more, you get a much better CPU and a much better gpu. You can remove the hdd if you have one already, and change parts to fit with a color scheme of course.

It's a different CPU micro architecture. It's more current than haswell which your build is based in. It works require a different motherboard and ram but all other parts would work better. The reason I suggest it is you can get a better CPU. Xeons aren't designed for gaming, and while they will work well for it, you pay extra for features you don't need (like ecc support). Buildin off skylake (like my above build) will give you a few more modern feared (like USB c native support) and better CPU performance. It will also allow you to use the better ddr4 ram.

It's a TN panel, which I'm not really into. I actually forgot to look up what the ASUS monitor is, thanks for reminding me, though! Your choice of monitor is nice, is the 144Hz good?

i think the asus is TN aswell. The 144hz in comparison to 60hz is night and day, its amazing

You do know the 1231v3 is just an i7 minus iGPU right? It can game fine. Not to mention, skylake's only like what, a 5% IPC improvement? Not going to see that much of a benefit, if any at all.

I know. Despite that, it will be outperformed by an i5 6600 for 25$ cheaper.

Hmm, that's for sure worth looking into. Could I by any chance get you to build me one where it'll cost max $50 more than the one i posted. Otherwise, it would be out of my budget, but I really like the idea of getting another CPU, as I am not familiar with the Xeon series, and I don't really know what I'm going in to with it. The "i" series from Intel I'm way more familiar with. The DDR4 RAM seems nice as well.

Do you by any chance know of an IPS monitor with 1ms response time, relatively low input lag, 144Hz ans 1920x1080p resolution? And for a decent price?
