Hello,

I have a  GTX 750ti in my current rig. Christmas is coming up and I'm considering if it's time to upgrade. I play games at 1080p and do not plan to play at any other resolution in the near future. Some of the more intensive games I play are GTAV, FO4, and BF4, and I want to purchase BF1 and Titanfall 2. I care much more about saving money than getting the absolute best graphics (e.g. ultra settings) and performance, although at least solid 60fps and decent graphics is a requirement. Do you think it would be better for me to get a 1050ti for boosted settings at 1080p, or should I indulge an extra $100-150 to get the 1060?

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Bentel Inside

I would jump to the 1060. The 1050ti is not great if you have the cash for the 1060 6GB. The 1050ti can barely crank out games on high at 1080p, other than Battlefield. Lots of reviewers turned games down to medium to get near 60FPS.

If you're in the USA, I think you should wait for the weekend of November 25th, and then look for a 1060, or better, and a discounted price.

The games you mentioned can be mostly maxed out with a GTX 1070, for 1080p, and require some concessions on a GTX 1060. Taking things down a step from there might not be a great idea, depending on what level of fidelity you like to play games with.

But a 1050ti also reduces the amount by which you're upgrading from your 750ti, and might result in you wanting to upgrade again sooner, rather than later.

Can't the 1050ti max some games? I want to pay just enough to max games without spending a ton of more money on the next GPU up, I guess.

The 1060 is the way to go then, check out LTT's and Jayz's reviews on the 1050ti and you'll see that it struggles with a lot of titles.
