Current bottleneck?

Hello all - 

 

So I just got a hand-me-down rig from my older brother, and based on the knowledge that I acquired over the summer about bottlenecks in a PC, I was curious about what he currently has as his CPU/GPU setup goes. I had a "meh" gaming laptop before he handed this down to me and build a new rig of his own, and I experienced significantly better performance on the laptop than this old rig of his. Let me know if there are any bottlenecks in the system, or if I'm just seeing things. 

 

AMD A10 7870k (non OC)

 

Reference GTX 960 2GB

 

850W PSU (for planned expansion that never happened)

The CPU is a potato or your ram isn't enough, do you know how much ram it has?

Yes. 16 GB of DDR3-1600

What would be an adequate CPU for replacing the A10? I'd need to replace the MOBO and CPU.. gonna keep the RAM

An Intel Core i5 4690K Overclocked would be good with the MSI Z97 Gaming 3 Mobo
