Help Far cry 1 underwater all the time foggy/no textures

I just installed far cry 1 I recently bought and it boots up fine but it just doesn't load textures and its like i'm underwater all the time even when out of the water

 

help!

Tried it, this seems to be a major issue with far cry. It just won't run on 64 bit os'es

I take it it's not on Steam? Had a look around and most people seem to be getting Steam versions working in windows 8, but it was released a lot later. It's been ages since I've played it, have it on disc somewhere, had a look to try and test but couldn't find it.

 

If not you probably have to download the patches, Ubisoft still supports it, so head on over there and get them. If that doesn't work you might have to force DirectX 9 or something.

I contacted valve and they were nice nuff to just let me give them the serial number off my physical copy and they gave me a digital copy of the game. Booted it up started playing looking round oh thats a nice tree this game was kickass when it came out. Then i was shot in the head from a guy 5 miles down the way...
