What should I upgrade to make the most fps increase in csgo? I get like 120-200 fps, but it dips down and is way too inconsistent. My budget is $250.

My build: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/RHhnYJ

A quad-core should be plenty right? Upgrading to an i7 wouldn't do much as well and 8gb of ram should be enough. So I was thinking about getting a new GPU. Which card would you guys recommend?

Idc about other games because I don't play other games. I literally only play csgo so keep that in mind.

You can try overclocking the graphics card to increase your frame rate.

I have the core clock to 1180mhz already. I don't know why my FPS is so up and down and I've seen people have the same setups and get higher/consistent fps.

I would say install a fresh copy of CSGO and do a fresh driver install. That should be more than enough to go 150 frames consistently

GPU is fine for CS:GO.

But CS:GO is CPU bottlenecked, if you had an i5-6600k then you could overclock. (but I think you may be able to do a BCLK overclock with that 6500)

6600k is about as good as it gets for CS:GO... hyperthreading doesn't improve frames in CS:GO at all.

Just not sure if 300Mhz will be significant.

If you have seen others have better frames with that setup... driver reinstall, BIOS update (probably shouldn't do this) seems logical.

Wierd... My old 6600k + 960 setup got me well over 200 fps at almost all times on CSGO. I think there is another problem here but idk.

Did you overlock your i5?

You should have 300 fps at even 1440p with those specs, check to make sure that there aren't any random usage spikes on the cpu/gpu/hdd when the fps drops occur, and that your ram isn't at 100%.

Yes, I had it running at 4.6 ghz. But either way, your system shouldn't differ much from that.

Yeah but will the extra ghz/overclocking for an 6600k make a bigger difference than a GPU upgrade? I'll probably try to BCLK overlock

Easily. An R7 265 could easily handle CSGO at 1080p144 for the most part.

Playing csgo under 100fps in unplayable. I've put 2K hrs into the game and you learn that fps is a huge factor no matter the refresh rate of the monitor. The game feels so much smoother at higher fps. Anything under 100 feels like the game is stuttering. So thats the reason why I want 200-300+ fps consistently. Go ask any other good/experienced csgo player or cap your fps in game (fps_max 100 or something) and see the difference.
