new cooler

hi, i currently have a i5-6400 with a stock cooler, i am planning to upgrade the cooler itself. is this a good idea or is it not necessary? if it is necessary what cooler should i get?

looking for a quiet cooler and also some case fans, 2x120mm fans that sticks to my color scheme (black and blue)

It's not necessarily a bad idea... aftermarket coolers usually offer better temps whilst simultaneously producing less noise.

 

I suggest the CRYROIG M9i. If you want something a bit beefier, either the beQuiet! PURE ROCK or the CRYORIG H7 will do.

maybe....., but my pc is kinda quite rite now (idle), but when i play GPU intensive games it may get loud.

Basically any aftermarket cooler will be cooler and quieter than the stock cooler. The ones I've suggested are good choices.

TBH, any. I like the Cryorig H7 because of its looks but that's rather a subjective matter.

It's not necessary to replace the stock cooler, but most aftermarket coolers are quieter and run a bit cooler.

For your blue theme, I'd suggest a CM Hyper 103 or Zalman CNPS7X or similar. (or CM Hyper TX3)
