1060 will fall short a 1440p gaming you will have to turn down settings quite a bit sometimes and it will not take long before you feel you have a retarded GPU in there cause the 1060 is quite a bit less powerful than a 1070:

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1060-6GB-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1070/3639vs3609

if you can afford a 1070...do that.

the 1070 will do well at 1440p. in some games you can't max out but it'll be fine

you'd have to tell me which games?! because i have a GTX 980ti and i run any game on ultra settings and i get consistent 80FPS+ in every games i played...ROTTR, BF1...etc.

also, you don't need 16xMSAA at 1440p for it to look good...

Here how battlefield 1 run on max settings 1440p on my own machine...100FPS baby:

no i wouldn't get a reference card...the blower fan is loud and they run hotter...get something with a dual fan design.

the division, crysis 3, fallout 4 (with mods), witcher 3 with hairworks, mankind divided, gta 5 (with those advanced options on), ac syndicate (with TXAA)

asus strix has triple fans so it'll cool better, but it's longer than the evga ACX

I currently have the 1060 strix version and it fits. they're the same size.

tripple fan is louder because smaller fans tend to spin faster to displace the same amount of heat and also they have a higher pitch than bigger fans making them more noticeable i have an asus strix card in my rig right now and it's the worst piece of shit ever the fans are super cheap and very loud...i would not get an asus card...get MSI or EVGA

those games all run on ultra settings at 80FPS if you use FXAA or TXAA including syndicate i don't know where you're getting this from...GTA 5 advanced options and hairworks do bring it in the 55-65FPS range but they don't make any change visually that is worth the trade of or buying a more powerful graphics card for.

might be because you have an i7. but it dips below 60fps if i max or nearly max out any of those games. could also be because of my dud card ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i do run an overclocked to 4.2ghz core i7 haswell with 16GB of RAM and my 980ti is overclocked to 1420mhz...so probably a bit faster than a GTX 1070...but still...at 1440p if you tweak your settings a bit...leave everything on max settings but turn off motion blur (disgutsting effect anyways) and tone down anti-aliasing to a minimal amount (no need for super AA at 1440p...it's super sharp already, a minimal amount of AA never fail to clear up those jaggies) and you'll easily get 80FPS+ even in the most demanding games...some games have settings that will bring even an overclocked GTX 1080 to it's knees...the thing is, 100% of the time these settings won't change anything in visual fidelity...they just cost frames for the fun of it.

Have you seen my BF1 video? it runs stupidly well... :)

i personally don't mind motion blur in racing games (FH3 uses motion blur quite well for ex.)

nice video, but i don't have bf1 so i can't test it myself
