What on earth is this sound??

cubby208

So my computer has been making weird noises for a couple months now. And today I decided "Enough is enough" and decided to seek help. It hasn't gotten worse or anything it is just annoying.

The computer is one that I built, and I would test it by unplugging various components to see if it makes it shut up, however the sound doesn't happen at predictable times.

I have a recording where I managed to capture it in its "wide cycle" and then return to a "shorter cycle" (see attached). A few minutes later it went back to almost normal computer sound.

The moving parts on my computer to my knowledge are

1. Case fans (Phanteeks ethos luxe)

2. CPU fan (Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO)

3. Hard Drive (Seagate Barracuda)

4. DVD Reader (LG UH12NS30 Blu-Ray Reader)

5. GTX 980 has fans on it

I do run matinence on my computer in the form of compressed air about every two months or so.

If you have any ideas of what it could be please let me know!

Sounds like a bad fan bearing

So replace the fan or fix the fan? Any good way to figure out which?

You can't really fix a fan so you should just u hook them one at a time until you figure out which one it is and replace it, or replace them all at one time
