For my planned first build, I am planning to use either a 6600k or a 6600 until AMD Zen arrives. Would overclocking the 6600k to 4.2-4.6ghz bottleneck my system in any way, or should I stick to the 6600 if I plan to not overclock later?

Don't worry too much about bottlenecks since they will always be there. I would take the K-series since it doesn't cost much more unlike some other generations.

Also you should change the RAM to a 2 stick set rather than singles.

Ok. I was just wondering if either a mild or slightly high OC would bottleneck the 1060.

Note: I added up the cost of each individual stick vs the bundle, the two seperate saved me a couple of bucks.

Your 6600K will be able to handle a 1080 with no issues.

Sometimes it's cheaper to get singles over two sticks in a pack.

You could get a 1070 in there and the i5-6600k wouldn't bottleneck it if you overclocked it.

well that and you'd have to buy a new MOBO and CPU if you went from 6600k to whatever Zen processor you got

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

@Jed M The dual sticks are more likely to succeed in dual channel.

Ok - Intel it is. Note: I think you accidentally typed 1080 instead of 1060 relating a possible GPU bottleneck - would an overclock bottleneck the 1060, or should I get a 1070?

You have a Z170 motherboard and a good CPU cooler, get the K.

Why are you waiting for AMD zen by the way? I think if you want to wait for anything it will be Kaby Lake. Nothing AMD has produced has ever come near the performance of current-gen  I7'S, and Kaby Lake will give a 15% boost over that. It will be a miracle if Zen actually means anything.

Also, I believe you can get those fans slightly cheaper if you buy them in packs of 2s.

The i5-6600K would do fine with a GTX 1080. Your 1060 would do fine as well, but if you can push for a 1070, by all means go for it.
