Hi all, I've bought the asus z170 pro gaming atx motherboard and kingston hyperx savage 16 gb (2x8) 2800 ddr4.

I can't build my PC yet because I'm waiting for the cpu cooler to arrive.

I was was looking in the motherboard manual and it lists the memory that is compatible with it and the Kingston is not listed. I didn't realise motherboards only worked with some types of memory (obviously I know about ddr3 and ddr4).

Anyone know anything about this? Will my memory work?

Love not hate

You'll need to set the timings yourself more than likely.  If you want things to "just work" without any worries, then you need to pay attention to the QVL list.  If you're comfortable setting your own timings, voltages, and speeds...  Then don't worry about it so much.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Thanks for the info. I've checked again and in the manual the memory I have is mentioned but only the 4x4gb version.

I have a few days until everything arrives so I'll look into the stuff you mentioned.

Probably won't be an issue, just set it to XMP profile 1 should do the trick to get the speed/timings correct. If not then just try to manually set it.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.
