Computer weird shut off

Okay my mom was just using her laptop and all of a sudden the screen turned black and it shut off. It was not on long enough for the battery to have died and this is the first time this has happened if anyone has an idea please tell me and if there is something to have to be done tell what to do with that too.

It can be a temperature problem, or a hardware failure.

 

Was she using it resting it on carpet, duvet or blankets? Was the fan at full speed? Did it make some noise?

 

Does it start now? Can you see the event viewer to tell if there is a report on this power off?

are you able to power on the machine now, or is it dead??

 

I was having this issue with my ASUS Rampage 5 Extreme motherboard for the past few months. A few times a day (more when i'm gaming). no warning, just blank screen like someone pulled the plug. Most people seem to think it's a driver issue and since I flashed back drivers to a year old version it has been stable. 

 

I suggest going to the forums of your device manufacture and poking around. look for driver release announcements or post questions for your problem.
