Hey, has anyone here worked with the Indigo Xtreme alloy metal thermal compound metal stuff? If so, did you start the reflow process vertical, already in the case? Because I didn't know i had to have it horizontal and I've already hooked everything up. I'm not sure it i can simply just flip the huge case (900D) on it's side and reflow that way, because the pump will be horizontal. Right now my cpu temperatures are really high and just on idle, like in the 90s! I think it may have already began to reflow, but how can i do this without having unacceptable temperatures?

you can't, the reflow fills the unevenness of the two mating surfaces and the extreme heat source is what melts the material to make the reflow process successful.

when i used the indigo, the CPU was horizontal on my open bench stand. i maintained 95° for 20mins and at 21mins the reflow started. and at 25mins i started the fans to normal cycling. once the system levelized, i stopped the system, removed the soft tubes of the cooling system and reinstalled the mobo assembly into the case. for the complete process and cost, just use a normal TIM application.

in your case, you'll need to lay the case on its backside and insure the reservoir is completely full to avoid cavitation in the water pump. this is usually why indigo is not used widely on h2o loops, grizzly, gelid, mx-4 or nt-h1 because of the complete hassle you are going to have to go through for 5-8°.

Dang it. This is a hassle, next time I'll just use regular paste. Hope fully once I do this the temperatures will get better and the fans will lower. Btw, how long will it be until I have to replace it and can I just use regular paste? For now though, I think I'm going to go to sleep, my dumbass took 2 hours just to exit the bios and load windows -_-

Thanks though, this was a big help

i used mine for three weeks and pissed it away for nt-h1 paste. went for a better CPU combo.

Hey, one of the steps on here says "Immediately following the launch of Prime 95, disconnect the water pump." What does this mean and how do I do it?

it means to stop the flow of coolant and allow the temperatures to climb. not a real recommended action as the water pump requires some flow or the pump can virtually burn up.

you'd remove power to the water pump.

So to do or not to do? Maybe a little bit, say 1-2 min? Did you do it?

Dang it, I think I messed up. First the pump had some air going into it so bubbles formed all inside the loop, the test results lasted for 10-12 minutes and I didn't see a huge dip in temps, it was supposed to last around 1 to 2 and a half minutes, I shut down the PC and I'm waiting 45 minutes for it to cool down but I think this run was unsuccessful. I'll probably have to change the tim and run it again if temps didn't significantly drop.
