Good Intel CPU

I have around 230$ and want to get a new CPU/motherboard that will preform greater than my current setup. Thanks to anyone who helps.

If you have the money just go i7. If not, I'd take a 6500 with a Z170 board.

You could go for an i3 6100 and spend money elsewhere, or an i5 6600K and a cheap Z170. Do you have a discount store near you? Micro Center?

MAybe, maybe not. Right now a 6500 with a new intel mobo is your clearest option

To stay on topic of picking a good upgrade,

 

If gaming is your plan then a true 4 core Intel chip would be your best choice for the money.

 

Just some quick looking gave me this option that should work with your current RAM to try and save some money there...
