A PS4 is going to cost $1850 USD in Brazil.

So I saw this on both Kotaku and Polygon that this statistic says (look below) will make the PS4 in Brazil cost $1850 USD.. That's insane and because of fees and taxes in Brazil.

So Sony this statement about it

 

We want to emphasize that it isn’t in the interest of Sony Computer Entertainment America to sell PS4 units at this high retail price", the statement reads, "as it’s not good for our gamers and it’s not good for the PlayStation brand.

 

So hopefully this will be resolved or the PS4 will only be for the 'well off' in Brazil and more will come to Dota 2 :( (JK)

Import taxes in some countries is rediculous. I can't believe that consumers, just because they live in a certain region, have to put up with this kind of bullshit. I know that PC builders in Brazil pay a HEFTY premium to get parts. :( It makes me sad.

That price seems a little high since I cannot imagine Brazilians shelling out thousands for a game console. That being said, consoles and other gadgets frequently cost way too much in other countries. 

 

I'm pretty sure that applies to all products in places like Australia as well. I guess this is just one of the benefits of living in the US, Europe, or main Asia.
