UNDERVOLTAGE,OVERVOLTAGE,OVERCURRENT

How does UV,OV,OC, and OVERTEMPERTURE damage a system? What cause it? And how do you prevent? Does AVR,PSU,Surge Protector etc really the black knight in this case? What limit does a psu with all these protection can really save your system? Did buying a good psu with all these protection claimed would really save your system? Sorry for the long Q, here a potato powet rig..awesome af

Under voltage will screw you over becuase components may not complete system processes, aka your computer will crash

Over voltage will either cause your components to heat up a lot, or straight up fry. Same thing for over current. Over temperature will decrease the lifespan of your parts and they will thermal throttle (slow down to stay in safe temp ranges).

 

all you need to do for those related to power is buy a decent power supply from a reliable company, like EVGA or Corsair (Not the only ones, just those I have experience with). Also, if you are overclocking, don't crank the knobs drastically

 

For temperature, just make sure all your coolers are on and that you aren't trying to purposefully suffocate your components

Any 80+ certified power supply should have at least some OV, UV, OC protection - it's usually the power supply that would cause a OV, UV, OC problem in the first place.

A surge protector would be used to protect the power supply from damage caused by powerline spikes.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.
