The only drawback for most people was the camera in previous Nexus phones. Not it seems that they understood that issue and changed it. I don't know which one I'd pick if I were you, but Pixel has really a lot of hype.
No idea about the battery life tho, hope it ain't trash

I will never know why people think the Pixel is a nice phone.

The Galaxy S7 is quite literally better in every single possible way, there is no reason why you would get the Pixel over it.

The only thing the Pixel has over it is USB-C and Google software updates, but as someone with a phone that has USB-C I can say it's more of a hindrance than a boon.

The amount of times where I needed to charge my phone but no one had a USB-C charger.

As for the software updates, I think the 1440p AMOLED screen, 3000mAh battery, camera, hardware buttons and realistically sized bezels (seriously what on Earth is up with those IPhone 5-esque top and bottom bezels on the Pixel, there's no hardware buttons or front-facing speakers) kinda outweigh those by a landslide.
